Ba Bu Jin Gang Chang Shou Gong (八部金刚长寿功)
“In Dialogue with Your Own Body—Inner Peace and Renewed Strength Through the Daoist Art of Movement”
Dynamic in movement, calm within—discover Ba Bu Jin Gang Chang Shou Gong, a Daoist exercise practice shaped by the concept of the unity of humanity and nature. It combines the dynamic movements of Jin Gang Gong with the gentle, inward-focused exercises of Chang Shou Gong.
Course Description:
This exercise series belongs to the Daoist Daoyin tradition and was popularized by the Daoist master Zhang Zhishun (张至顺, 1912–2015). According to tradition, its origins may date back to the 10th century. It consists of two parts, each with eight consecutive movement forms: Jin Gang Gong and Chang Shou Gong. The two parts correspond to the Yin and Yang principle and complement each other.
The focus is on the physical movements. Breathing remains natural and does not need to be consciously controlled. Your attention may also be directed according to how you feel. According to Daoist understanding, the movements stimulate the flow of Qi throughout the body. In the workshop, you will learn the basic movement sequences and practice them step by step.
